Arizona Civil Rights Icon Dr. Warren Stewart Sr., Will Expound on "Victory Together"
On Jan. 14, the Arizona Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Planning Committee will celebrate its 36th Annual Arizona Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. MLK Living the Dream Virtual Celebration. This year’s keynote speaker will be Rev. Dr. Warren Stewart Sr. – a man widely known for his leadership in establishing an Arizona State Holiday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Rev. Stewart, senior pastor of First Institutional Baptist Church and a highly-d
ecorated community servant, wrote about his experiences in his latest book, Victory Together for Martin Luther King Jr.
“We are honored to have Pastor Warren Stewart keynote our 36th year of this celebration. He does so much for our community, and we are blessed that he is available," said Dr. Gene Blue, chair of the Arizona MLK Celebration Committee and president and CEO of Arizona Opportunities Industrialization Center.
Martin Luther King III, who will be in Arizona for a voting rights event, has been invited to speak.
“Pastor Stewart is a great leader, mentor, and shining example of what service and commitment looks like. We are glad he accepted the invitation to keynote. We hope Martin Luther King III will be available to speak as well," said Ron Williams, co-chair of the Arizona MLK Celebration Committee and events and activities chair. "We’re excited to partner with the City of Phoenix Human Relations Commission, and Equal Opportunity Department. I’m humbled to co-chair this year’s Celebration with the 2017 Calvin C. Goode MLK Lifetime Award Honoree Valerie Churchwell.”
